Why it’s Important to Get Your Windows Cleaned Every Year
Windows accumulate all sorts of things that can lead to a dirty feeling house. Maybe you feel this, maybe you don’t, but getting your windows regularly cleaned will help prevent mineral build up will occur and can become permanent if not removed.
The worst thing you to your window is to be consistently be exposed to water (not including rain) whether that be from a sprinkler or attempts to clean the windows with your garden hose. As the minerals build up on the glass, the surface becomes rough which makes getting that perfect window clean more and more difficult because that rough extra surface caused by mineral build up gives dirt and grim something more to hold onto which makes the window harder to clean. If it builds up enough, the window glass becomes rough with layers of mineral build up which creates an unsmooth surface for the squeegee to drag all the water, soap, and dirt away.
The rougher the surface the, the dirtier the window gets, the harder it is to squeegee, the higher the risk for streaks.
My recommendation is to get your windows cleaned once a year or at least every other year. The best time is late spring or early summer after the pollen falls.
